There are many suggestions provided here to involve your students, school and community in what you are exploring and learning about Native Americans. Please add any additional lessons or ideas you have tried in your own classrooms via the Share Your Ideas form and check the resource often for updates.

If more than one class at your school is working with this resource, you can display student work created in response to the photographs, poems, history, situations, and current events in a common areas, such as hallways, libraries or cafeterias. You can also have two or more classes meet in a larger area to share their responses aloud while projecting the inspiration:  photographs or poems. Exchange students’ responses with other classes or schools who are working with the resource.

At a school Open House or other event, display Sue Reynolds’ photographs and Victor Charlo’s poems and either display students’ responses or have students read them aloud. These events can also be opportunities to invite community members in to share their histories and stories, and respond to your students’ work.
